Gameplay

Mystic Riders is a cooperative horizontal scrolling shooter released by Irem in 1992. Two players pilot fantastical creatures—the titular Mystic Riders—through vibrant, side-scrolling environments filled with enemy projectiles and obstacles. Players maneuver their characters to destroy waves of adversaries while collecting power-ups that enhance firepower and defensive capabilities. The game is an export version of the earlier Japanese title, Mahou Keibitai Gun Houki. Gameplay involves navigating through a series of stages, dodging attacks and strategically utilizing collected abilities. Cooperative play is essential as players must coordinate their efforts to overcome increasingly challenging encounters. Mystic Riders first appeared in arcades during May 1992. A computer port of the game was included in the "IREM Arcade Hits" compilation for PC and Macintosh platforms beginning in 2011, and later released on Desura in 2013.
