Konami’s MX5000 arrived in arcades in 1987 as an export release from Japan, originally known as "Flak Attack." This two-player vertical shooter puts players in control of advanced fighter jets tasked with defending against relentless waves of enemy aircraft and heavily armored installations. Players maneuver their planes through increasingly challenging stages, utilizing weaponry to destroy threats while avoiding incoming fire. The gameplay focuses on precision flying and strategic use of available firepower as you face a constant barrage of projectiles and aerial adversaries. Cooperative play allows for coordinated attacks and shared defense against the escalating opposition. While originally released under the GX669 game ID, MX5000 represents an evolution of Konami’s earlier shoot ‘em up titles. Later re-released on PlayStation 4 consoles as both MX5000 in North America and Flak Attack in Europe and Australia, this arcade classic offers a thrilling cooperative experience for fans of the vertical shooter genre.
