Metal Slug X - Super Vehicle-001 (NGM-2500 ~ NGH-2500)
SNK • 1999

Metal Slug X is a fast-paced, side-scrolling platform shooter released by SNK in 1999 as an update to their popular Metal Slug series. Designed to address performance issues present in earlier installments, this Neo-Geo MVS title delivers intense action for up to two players. As soldiers Marco and Tarma, you'll battle through a variety of environments while facing hordes of enemies and powerful vehicles, utilizing a range of weapons including grenades, artillery attacks, and even commandeering specialized vehicles for enhanced firepower. Gameplay revolves around navigating challenging levels filled with traps and enemy ambushes. Players utilize an eight-way joystick to move and three buttons to shoot, jump, and deploy grenades. Distinct from its predecessors, Metal Slug X introduces new enemies, a revised end boss encounter, and hidden secrets to discover throughout the campaign. The game’s credits sequence provides a glimpse into a surprising number of character designs—up to five different sets of twelve artwork images are shown. Originally released on SNK's Neo-Geo MVS hardware, Metal Slug X has seen numerous ports to various platforms over the years, including home consoles and PC. A soundtrack album accompanied the game’s release in 1998, further solidifying its place within the franchise.
