Step into the gritty world of Streets of Rage II (Mega Play), a side-scrolling beat ‘em up for two players released in 1993 by Sega. Following a period of relative peace after defeating Mr. X’s syndicate, the city faces renewed threats when he returns and kidnaps Adam Hunter. Players take on the roles of Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, joined this time by pro wrestler Max Thunder and Eddie ‘Skate’ Hunter, as they fight through urban environments to quell the escalating violence and rescue Adam. The gameplay involves using a joystick and three buttons for attacks, jumping, and special moves against waves of enemies. Players can execute rear attacks by pressing two buttons simultaneously. This Mega Play version presents a challenging experience with increased difficulty; extra lives are not earned through points, instead replaced by money bags that award 1,000 points each. Streets of Rage II builds upon the foundation established in its predecessor and is part of a trilogy of fighting games known for their energetic music composed by Yuzo Koshiro. The game runs on Sega’s "Mega Play" hardware, delivering a fast-paced cooperative action experience designed for two simultaneous players.
