Gameplay

Mouser is a cooperative platform game released in 1983 by UPL and later licensed to Cosmos for distribution. Two players control characters who navigate through a series of levels, leaping over obstacles and collecting items while avoiding hazards. Players utilize an eight-way joystick and single button to move their character and perform actions within the game's environment. The gameplay centers on precise jumping and coordination between the two players as they progress through each stage. Designed and programmed by Ryuichi Nishizawa, Mouser represents UPL’s initial foray into arcade game development. The game features a soundtrack driven by General Instrument AY8910 sound chips, providing audio accompaniment to the onscreen action. Mouser was initially released in February of 1983 and subsequently ported to MSX computers. It runs on Zilog Z80 processors for both its main gameplay and sound functions.
