Monster Bash
Sega • 1982

Step into a cartoonish world of monster hunting in Sega’s Monster Bash, released in 1982. Players take on the role of Little Red, a resourceful boy tasked with confronting classic movie monsters across three distinct and challenging stages. The gameplay combines platforming elements with shooting action as you navigate Dracula's haunted house, Frankenstein’s castle, and Chameleon Man’s graveyard, each featuring unique obstacles and enemy types. In Dracula’s House, Little Red chases the vampire through a multi-story mansion, lighting candles to energize a Magic Sword needed to defeat him. Subsequent levels introduce new perils: Wolfmen in Frankenstein's Castle require careful dodging while pursuing the hulking creator, and Chameleon Man uses invisibility within his graveyard domain, demanding strategic use of color-changing areas to expose him. Strategic jumps allow for quick descents, but defeating each boss requires collecting a powerful SuperZap ability. Monster Bash supports two players in cooperative gameplay, adding another layer of challenge as you work together to overcome the spooky obstacles and mischievous monsters lurking within each stage. The game's distinctive graphics and sound effects create an engaging atmosphere reminiscent of classic cartoon animation.
