Gameplay

Cave’s Muchi Muchi Pork! is a fast-paced, vertical scrolling shooter released in Japan in 2007 under license from AMI. Players control one of two characters—though gameplay remains identical—in a bizarre world populated by anthropomorphic pork products and other food-themed enemies. The core action involves maneuvering through increasingly challenging levels while blasting away waves of these quirky opponents with a variety of projectile weapons, which can be upgraded throughout the game. A cooperative mode allows for two players to join forces against the onslaught. The game’s distinctive aesthetic combines vibrant character designs with frantic, detailed backgrounds, creating an unusual and visually engaging experience. Voice acting brings life to the various food-themed characters, from Momo and Ikuo to Wing and Sirloin, each contributing to the game's whimsical atmosphere. The soundtrack features contributions from multiple composers including Cave Sound Team and Masa-King. Muchi Muchi Pork! debuted at the 2007 AOU show and was released shortly after in Japan, eventually receiving a console port for Xbox 360 later that decade alongside PinkSweets - Ibara Sorekara.
