Dynax’s Mahjong Electron Base Part.2 & Part.4 is a two-player tabletop arcade game released in Japan in 1993 that brings the traditional tile-matching challenge to a video format. Players engage in a Mahjong match against one of six female characters, accompanied by pleasant background music and visual effects announcing key moments like a “Ron” or reaching a winning hand. The game features a scoring system intended to be exacting, adding an element of strategic depth as players attempt to outmaneuver their opponent. A unique gameplay feature allows for the exchange of three tiles during a match – a chance that can be exploited with careful timing and repeated button presses. The experience goes beyond simple tile matching; skilled players can utilize this exchange system in conjunction with observing their opponent’s moves to set up advantageous plays, potentially leading to a high-scoring victory. Mahjong Electron Base Part.2 & Part.4 builds upon previous installments in the Electron Base series and utilizes a robust sound chip setup including a General Instrument AY8910, YM2413, and OKI MSM5205 to create an immersive tabletop experience.
