Current Technology, Inc. • 1985

In Mirax, players take on the role of space pilots tasked with thwarting an impending galactic crisis. The Alpha Centauri empire is constructing a devastating super laser weapon within the city of Mirax, posing a grave threat to nearby colonies. Two players can cooperate as they pilot spacecraft on a perilous journey spanning 90,000 miles toward this heavily fortified location. Gameplay involves navigating a chase-view perspective while dodging enemy fire and obstacles such as energy stations, spaceships, and missiles. Players must destroy construction units responsible for building the super laser to prevent its completion. The game utilizes simulated sprite scaling to create a sense of depth and visual complexity during encounters with bosses and hordes of adversaries. Powered by a Zilog Z80 processor and General Instrument sound chips, Mirax delivers an action-packed experience centered on fast reflexes and coordinated teamwork to save the galaxy from destruction.
