Gameplay

Minesweeper is a two-player maze game released in 1977 by Amutech. Players each control a boat navigating an unseen grid, leaving a trail of mines behind them as they move. The objective is simple: outmaneuver your opponent and avoid collisions with either their mines or your own. Movement is restricted to 90-degree turns, adding a layer of strategic challenge to predicting your rival’s actions. Gameplay relies on careful planning and anticipating the other player's moves; boxing an opponent into a confined space can be a successful tactic for securing victory. A key element to avoid is pushing the control stick backwards as this results in crashing into one's own minefield, instantly ending their turn. The game utilizes buttons instead of joysticks for controls and offers simultaneous play for both players with a single coin insertion. A win condition exists where the first player to achieve six victories (operator adjustable) is declared the winner.
