Gameplay

Navigate twisting mazes and battle adversaries in Mikie, a two-player maze fighter released by Konami in 1984. Originally known as "Shinnyuushain Tooru-Kun" in Japan, this export version reimagines the protagonist not as a new employee, but as a student attending school. Players maneuver their characters through intricate environments, seeking out and confronting enemies while attempting to reach designated objectives within each stage. The gameplay focuses on strategic movement and quick reflexes as you dodge projectiles and close-quarters attacks. Two players can compete simultaneously, adding an element of rivalry to the challenge. While sharing a lineage with its Japanese counterpart, this version features altered graphics reflecting the change in character backstory from corporate employee to student. Mikie found its way onto home computers shortly after its arcade debut, appearing on platforms like the Commodore C64 and Sinclair ZX Spectrum as part of compilation releases.
