Nichibutsu • 1994
Also known as: Zoku Mahjong Housoukyoku

Mahjong Housoukyoku Honbanchuu is a tabletop arcade game released in Japan by Nichibutsu in 1994 for up to three players. The title, which translates to “Mahjong Broadcasting Company Live Broadcast,” offers a traditional mahjong experience with a unique presentation. Players engage in the classic tile-matching gameplay of mahjong, striving to create sets and sequences while strategically discarding tiles to hinder opponents. The game’s visual display runs at a resolution of 640x240 pixels utilizing a palette of 768 colors, presented horizontally on the arcade screen. A Zilog Z80 processor handles sound alongside a Motorola 68000 CPU and YM3812 sound chip, all contributing to an immersive gaming atmosphere. Kenji Yoshida composed the game’s soundtrack. A two-player version of this title exists under the name "Zoku Mahjong Housoukyoku." While no publisher is credited on screen, it was developed by Nichibutsu and distributed under a different brand.
