Metal Hawk (Rev C)
Namco • 1988

Take to the skies in Metal Hawk, a fast-paced flying shooter released by Namco in 1988. As a lone pilot maneuvering a futuristic helicopter, your objective is to navigate through challenging environments while battling enemy forces and aerial obstacles. The game utilizes Namco System 2 hardware, providing detailed graphics and sound effects for the period. Players control their aircraft using a joystick, dodging projectiles and deploying countermeasures as they progress through levels. A limited number of buttons allow for offensive actions against approaching threats. Metal Hawk features music composed by Shinji Hosoe and Kazuo Noguchi, with a soundtrack album released shortly after the game's debut. A prototype version was once considered for release on the Sega Mega-CD platform, though it never materialized. Designed by Hajime Nakatani and programmed by A. Yuhara, Metal Hawk offers a focused single-player experience demanding both precision and quick reflexes.
