Mercs (World 900302)
Capcom • 1990
Also known as: Senjou no Ookami II

Mercs is a cooperative run-and-gun shooter released by Capcom in 1990 and running on their CP System hardware. Up to three players take control of heavily armed mercenaries as they battle through enemy strongholds in this side-scrolling action game. Players advance across the screen, dodging projectiles and dispatching foes with a variety of weapons while navigating challenging environments. A revised version of the game released later that same year included an anti-drug message screen for versions distributed in the United States. The game is part of a series beginning with Commando and followed by Wolf of the Battlefield - Commando 3, demonstrating Capcom's continued exploration of military action themes. Mercs has seen numerous ports to various home consoles and computers over the years, including Sega Master System, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, PlayStation, Xbox, Commodore 64, and others. It represents a piece of Capcom’s arcade legacy and was originally developed in Japan as "Senjou no Ookami II."
