Gameplay

Step into the world of Mega Man like never before in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, a two-player versus fighting game released by Capcom in 1996. Running on CPS-II hardware, this arcade title reimagines elements from the classic platformer series as an arena brawler. Players select from a roster of familiar characters – Mega Man himself and eight Robot Masters – each possessing unique abilities derived from their original boss battles. The gameplay revolves around direct combat between these iconic figures; players execute punches, kicks, and signature weapon attacks to deplete opponents' health bars. Cooperative play is also an option, allowing two players to team up against the game’s challenges. Developed in Japan for North American and European release, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters offers a fresh perspective on the established Mega Man universe. This title builds upon Capcom's earlier fighting game based on the series, Mega Man - The Power Battle, and has since been included in later console collections. Though initially planned for Nintendo Game Boy Advance, that version was ultimately cancelled.
