Mega Man: The Power Battle (CPS1, USA 951006)
Capcom • 1995
Also known as: Rockman: The Power Battle

Capcom’s Mega Man: The Power Battle arrived in North American arcades in 1995 as a two-player fighting game built on their CPS1 hardware. Rather than controlling Mega Man through traditional platforming action, players choose from a roster of eight characters – including Mega Man himself, Roll, and Dr. Light – to engage in head-to-head battles or team up for cooperative play. Each character possesses unique abilities derived from the familiar Mega Man series weaponry, allowing for varied combat strategies. The game’s gameplay revolves around executing special moves and utilizing projectile attacks to deplete opponents' health bars. Stages are presented as arena-style environments, encouraging close-quarters engagements. Though developed in Japan, this version was specifically released for North American arcades. Mega Man: The Power Battle later found its way into home console collections like the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, available for Nintendo GameCube, Sony PlayStation 2, and Microsoft Xbox. A planned Nintendo Game Boy Advance release never materialized.
