Match It II
Tamtex • 1993
Also known as: Shisensho II

Tamtex’s Match It II, released in 1993, is a two-player tabletop game drawing on the established mechanics of its predecessor. Players simultaneously manipulate a field of colored tiles—a variation on the classic Chinese puzzle known as Shanghai—attempting to create matching rows or columns of three or more identical colors. The goal is to clear sections of the board faster than your opponent, strategically removing tiles and disrupting their progress while furthering your own game. This version appears to be an export release; for a deeper understanding of the gameplay experience, consult the entry for its original Japanese iteration, Shisen-shou II. As a tabletop title, Match It II offers a more intimate and direct competitive experience than many arcade games of the era. The game builds upon the foundation laid by the earlier Match It, representing the second installment in the series. Two players can engage in this puzzle challenge at once, adding a layer of strategic interaction to tile-matching gameplay.
