Namco • 1983

Mappy is a 1983 platform and run-jump arcade game developed by Namco and released in North America by Bally/Midway. Players control Mappy, a police dog tasked with chasing down a gang of feline thieves known as the Meowky Gang within a multi-level mansion. Gameplay involves navigating maze-like rooms, collecting keys to unlock doors, and pursuing the cats as they attempt to evade capture. The mischievous Goro (known as Nyamco in other versions) leads the cat gang, adding an extra layer of challenge to the pursuit. Each level presents a new layout to explore, demanding quick reflexes and strategic planning to corner and trap the fleeing felines. The game supports two players, enabling cooperative gameplay as they work together to apprehend the Meowky Gang. Mappy has since appeared in numerous collections across various platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Wii, PSP, PC, and mobile devices.
