Step into a mystical quest as Elta, the last Magician Lord, in this vibrant side-scrolling platform shooter for two players. Tasked with saving his homeland from the encroaching evil of Gul-Agieze and his plans to resurrect a destructive god, you’ll traverse eight challenging levels filled with enemies and perilous traps. As Elta, you'll jump, shoot energy projectiles, and climb your way through each stage while battling powerful servants and formidable bosses. A key feature of Magician Lord is the ability to transform into different forms by collecting colored orbs scattered throughout the stages. Each form grants unique attacks and abilities—from breathing fire as the Dragon Warrior to unleashing devastating water waves as Poseidon, or firing through obstacles as the Samurai. Mastering these transformations is crucial for overcoming the increasingly difficult challenges ahead. Developed by Alpha Denshi and running on SNK's Neo-Geo MVS hardware, Magician Lord was an early showcase of the system’s capabilities, utilizing dezooming and rotation effects to create a dynamic visual experience. The game's design involved extensive development changes; originally featuring longer stages which were ultimately shortened for arcade play.
