Gameplay

A space colony faces relentless attack in Mission 660, a cooperative vertical shooter released in 1986. Players control spaceships and must navigate through successive waves of enemy vessels advancing across the screen. Destroying these ships is key to progressing, and collecting power stars enhances your ship's capabilities. The gameplay loop involves clearing each level before confronting and ultimately destroying a large enemy spacecraft. Developed by Kaneko under license from Taito Corporation, Mission 660 offers two-player cooperative action controlled with an eight-way joystick and button controls. Beneath its vibrant visuals lies a technical foundation including Zilog Z80 processors and General Instrument AY8910 sound chips. Known as "The Alphax Z" in some regions, this game presents a challenging test of skill and coordination for players defending their colony from invasion.
