Legendary Wings (US, rev. C)
Capcom • 1986
Also known as: Ares no Tsubasa

Take to the skies in Capcom’s Legendary Wings, a fast-paced vertical shooter released in North America in 1986. Two players can team up to battle through waves of enemy aircraft and fortifications as they ascend through increasingly challenging stages. Initially released with two nameless pilots distinguished by their red and blue swim trunks, later revisions introduced characters inspired by the original Japanese version – a woman named Michelle Heart and a man called Kevin Walker—though Michelle’s bikini color changed from pink to green in one release. Players control their chosen character's aircraft, maneuvering through enemy fire while blasting away adversaries with forward-firing weapons. As they progress, power-ups become available to enhance firepower or provide shields. The game draws inspiration from Capcom’s earlier Japanese title, Ares no Tsubasa – The Legendary Soldiers, and offers a cooperative arcade experience focused on aerial combat. Legendary Wings has seen numerous ports over the years, appearing on systems like the Nintendo NES, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 2, PSP, and through digital distribution platforms such as XBLA and PSN as part of Capcom’s collection releases.
