Gameplay

Piloting a futuristic aircraft, players engage in intense aerial combat across vibrant, scrolling landscapes in Last Resort. This side-scrolling shooter, released by SNK in 1992 for their Neo-Geo MVS arcade system, allows for cooperative two-player action. The game’s early stages evoke the atmosphere of classic cyberpunk anime with a cityscape reminiscent of Akira, setting the stage for challenging encounters against enemy fighters and imposing mechanical bosses. Gameplay revolves around utilizing attack buttons to neutralize waves of adversaries while navigating treacherous environments. Players can charge attacks for increased firepower, adding strategic depth to the shoot 'em up experience. Successfully completing the game twice unlocks an extended ending sequence and credits roll. Last Resort originally debuted on arcade hardware and was later ported to various home consoles including Neo-Geo AES and CD platforms, as well as appearing in collections like SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1. A limited edition soundtrack album accompanied the game’s release shortly after its initial debut.
