Psikyo's Lode Runner - The Dig Fight, released in Japan in 2000, brings a frantic, four-player twist to the classic run-and-jump formula. Players navigate scrolling levels, digging tunnels and collecting gold while evading robotic enemies. This iteration retains the core gameplay of previous titles – strategically creating pathways through blocks to reach treasure – but introduces chaotic multiplayer action as everyone races for the riches. The game features a vibrant visual style and utilizes a SH-2 processor for its graphics and YMF278B sound chip to deliver an energetic soundtrack. Controlling your character with an eight-way joystick, you’ll need quick reflexes and some cunning strategy to outmaneuver opponents and secure the most gold before time runs out. A maintenance code allows access to testing features including a stage editor for those interested in deeper exploration of the game's construction. This version, designated "Ver. B," is now the more common release as most production units were updated from the rarer “Ver. A.”
