Take to the skies as a pilot in Tatsumi’s Lock-On, a thrilling first-person flying shooter released in 1986. Piloting a powerful Tatsumi 86 hover jet fighter, you navigate through diverse war zones with the mission of eliminating all enemy forces both in the air and on the ground. Successfully destroying each target while dodging incoming missiles is key to progressing through the levels and reaching the portal that leads to the next challenge. Lock-On showcases impressive sprite-scaling technology for a visually engaging experience, simulating the feel of piloting an advanced jet. As a single player, you’ll rely on a joystick and four buttons to maneuver your fighter and unleash its weaponry. The game utilizes multiple processors including a Zilog Z80 and three V30 chips alongside a YM2203 sound chip for audio. Originally released in November of 1986, Lock-On was later licensed to Data East for distribution within the United States and also ported to PC computers shortly after its arcade debut.
