Gameplay

Libble Rabble is a unique puzzle game for two players released by Namco in 1983. Players control two arrows connected by a line and must strategically enclose areas of the screen with it to harvest Mushlins and defeat various enemies. The gameplay shares similarities with titles like Qix, but introduces an engaging twist: closing loops not only scores points but also reveals hidden treasure chests that require precise line placement to uncover. As players progress through seasons, they’ll encounter Hobblins, Killers, Changers, Demons, and Shears – each presenting a different challenge. Catching the corner-dwelling Hobblins traps them temporarily, while others must be surrounded within closed loops to eliminate them. The appearance of scissors-like Shears poses a particular threat, as they can sever the line connecting the arrows, instantly repositioning it between the controls. Successfully collecting bonus creatures and completing words earns players access to special stages where chests are plentiful and time is limited. With its dual-player functionality and blend of strategic outlining and creature management, Libble Rabble offers a distinctive and challenging arcade experience.
