Legionnaire (World)
TAD Corporation • 1992

TAD Corporation’s Legionnaire arrived in North American arcades in 1992 as a two-player fighting game with unique visual presentation. Developed originally in Japan under the title "Saishu Kakutou Kizoku Legionnaire," this game blends elements of traditional fighting games with a distinctive 2.5D perspective, offering players an unusual sense of depth and movement during combat. Players control warriors locked in intense battles against opponents, utilizing punches, kicks, and special attacks to deplete their health bars. The gameplay involves maneuvering your character across the screen while strategically timing strikes to outwit your opponent. The two-player functionality allows for head-to-head competition, testing reflexes and skill as players vie for victory. Legionnaire was showcased at the ATE Show in London prior to its release, generating initial interest in this Japanese import. A slightly altered version of the game was released for North American distribution, featuring an environmental message displayed during gameplay encouraging recycling.
