Gameplay

Land Maker is a four-player puzzle game released by Taito in June 1998. Players strategically launch colored blocks towards others of the same color to construct larger structures. The size of these constructions directly impacts an opponent’s progress toward defeat, accelerating a timer that pushes all remaining blocks closer to the edge of the playing field. Successfully collapsing an opponent's structure leads to victory, while failing to do so results in your own downfall. The game runs on Taito F3 system hardware and utilizes an 8-way joystick for precise aiming. A unique quirk within Land Maker prevents players from entering "SEX" as their initials on the high score table; any attempt will automatically change them to “AAA.” A secret can be unlocked by performing a specific button sequence at the title screen, altering the game’s stage layout upon subsequent play. A version of Land Maker was later ported to Sony PlayStation in 1999. The arcade release is identified as version 2.02O and bears a build date of June 2, 1998.
