Eolith • 1999

Land Breaker (also known in Korea as Miss Tang Ja Ru Gi) is a 1999 puzzle game developed by Eolith for two players. Gameplay revolves around strategically manipulating blocks to clear the screen across thirty-two distinct levels. Players use a joystick to direct their pieces, aiming to eliminate formations and advance through increasingly challenging layouts rendered with a vibrant, graduated color palette. The game’s design incorporates an outline aesthetic and background visuals intended for mature audiences. Eolith utilized custom hardware in its construction, featuring a 32-bit system capable of resolutions up to 512x384 pixels and employing a complex MIDI sound system that provides both music and effects. The technical specifications include dual VRAM chips and a primary RAM capacity of one megabyte for the game's data and graphics. Two players can collaborate or compete as they work through the levels, using two buttons to control their actions within the puzzle environment. A team of designers and engineers contributed to Land Breaker’s creation, including programmers, graphic artists, and a dedicated music director overseeing the game’s soundtrack.
