Embark on a quest rooted in Russian folklore with Konek-Gorbunok, a one-player platform game from Terminal released around 1988. Players assume control of Ivan, a peasant's son who rides his magical Humpbacked Horse to fulfill the Tsar’s often-demanding requests. The gameplay involves navigating scrolling levels filled with obstacles and hazards while utilizing a weapon to overcome challenges. The primary objective is to capture a beautiful firebird for the Tsar, ensuring the safety of Ivan’s faithful steed and ultimately hoping to win the affections of a princess. Each screen presents a unique tilemap and code, offering varied environments as you progress through the game's levels. Levels beyond nine transition into a bonus sequence set within a castle environment. Konek-Gorbunok utilizes an Intel 8080 processor and custom sound chips to deliver its experience on a horizontal screen with a resolution of 256x256 pixels, controlled via a four-way joystick and two buttons. Notably, while a tilemap exists for level fifteen, no corresponding code is present within the game's structure.
