Gameplay

Knuckle Joe arrived in arcades in 1985 from Seibu Kaihatsu, licensed to Taito for distribution. This two-player game combines side-scrolling platforming with fighting action as players control similarly styled characters who punch and kick their way through a series of environments. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, you'll navigate levels filled with enemies, dodging obstacles and delivering blows to progress. The gameplay revolves around straightforward combat; anticipate enemy movements and utilize punches and kicks to defeat them. As players advance, they encounter increasingly challenging foes and platforming sequences demanding precise timing and control. A version of the game known as "Bone Crusher" also exists. Knuckle Joe features a Zilog Z80 processor for its main functions, alongside Motorola processors and General Instrument/MSM sound chips to create the audio experience. It offers a simple but engaging cooperative fighting experience for two players simultaneously.
