Knuckle Heads (World)
Namco • 1992

Knuckle Heads is a four-player versus fighting game released by Namco in 1992. Players select from a cast of characters and engage in head-to-head combat utilizing a variety of weapons—ranging from swords to axes—to defeat opponents. The game’s controls consist of an eight-way joystick for movement and three buttons used for attacks, including a dedicated jump button that distinguishes it from many contemporary fighting games. The simultaneous four-player functionality allows for chaotic free-for-all matches or team battles, adding considerable replayability to the experience. Developed during the peak popularity of arcade fighters, Knuckle Heads features vibrant graphics and a soundtrack released on Namco Game Sound Express. The visual design was overseen by H. Kikuchi and KIM, with character illustrations provided by Mr. Shigeri. Soundtrack composition was handled by Takayuki Aihara, also known as John Aihara. The game’s cast includes characters voiced by N. Tobita, T. Morikawa, M. Hayashibara, K. Misuishi, and T. Yanagihara amongst others.
