Gameplay

Step into the ring with Knuckle Bash, a two-player fighting game released in 1993 by Toaplan and distributed in Europe and North America by Atari. Players choose from three distinct characters to take on a series of opponents who are disrupting the city’s peace. Gameplay involves straightforward button presses and joystick movements for punches, kicks, and special moves as you battle through waves of adversaries, including the notorious Bulls. Knuckle Bash offers a versus co-op experience allowing two players to team up against the game's challenges or face off directly in competitive play. The game features a vibrant visual style and utilizes sound chips from Yamaha and OKI for its audio presentation. A hidden function exists where enabling an invulnerability dip switch grants temporary immunity, with the ability to pause and restart gameplay using the player start buttons. A sequel, Knuckle Bash 2, was released later in 1999, continuing the series’ action-packed fighting formula. The game's design credits Junya Inoue.
