Karian Cross (Rev. 1.0)
Deniam • 1996

Karian Cross is a head-to-head puzzle game for two players released in 1996 by Deniam. Players strategically manipulate falling blocks of various colors, aiming to connect three or more blocks of the same color to make them disappear from their playfield. Successfully clearing blocks sends additional blocks over to your opponent’s side, adding pressure and potentially disrupting their own combinations. The gameplay shares similarities with titles like Puyo Puyo, but features its own unique visual style and character designs brought to life by a team of artists including Deesis and Won. Managing the flow of falling pieces and anticipating your opponent's moves are key to victory in this fast-paced competition. Built on Deniam’s custom hardware, Karian Cross utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor alongside a Zilog Z80 for its gameplay and sound, creating an engaging audio-visual experience with a vibrant palette of over two thousand colors.
