Kageki is a two-player versus fighting game released in Japan by Kaneko and Taito Corporation in 1988. Players face off against each other in one-on-one combat against various opponents portrayed as gang members. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, players execute attacks to defeat their rival and progress through the encounters. The title, translating from Japanese as "Extreme," suggests a fast-paced and energetic gameplay experience. A team of developers, including game designer Hiroshi Kaneko, brought Kageki to life with programming, graphics, and sound design contributions from numerous individuals. The game’s technical specifications include Zilog Z80 processors for its main functions, alongside YM2203 and sample-based audio chips for the soundtrack. Kageki later saw a port to the Sega Mega Drive in 1991, bringing its arcade action to home consoles.
