Gameplay

In Jump Coaster, players take on the role of a caped hero attempting to rescue his girlfriend across a series of roller coaster themed stages. Using an eight-way joystick and a single button for jumping, two players navigate their characters through environments populated by mischievous monkeys. The gameplay centers around collecting gold bags scattered throughout each level; acquiring all of them advances the player pair to the next round. The game is structured with distinct scenes forming each round, presenting new challenges and layouts. Players must skillfully time jumps to avoid obstacles and enemies while pursuing the coveted collectibles. Jump Coaster's simple controls belie a demanding challenge as players work together to progress through increasingly complex stages. Developed by Kaneko in 1983 and originally released in Japan, this platform game features music generated by a General Instrument AY8910 sound chip, powered by a Zilog Z80 processor. A port of the arcade version later appeared on MSX computers.
