Puzzled / Joy Joy Kid (NGM-021 ~ NGH-021)
SNK • 1990

Two players cooperate in Puzzled, a falling-block puzzle game released by SNK in 1990. The objective is to clear rows of blocks obstructing two children’s paths as they attempt to reach a divine figure and save their villages. Players use an eight-way joystick to rotate falling blocks, strategically positioning them to eliminate entire lines and progress through increasingly challenging levels. A special “L-Ball” ability can also be utilized for clearing obstacles. The gameplay revolves around careful planning and coordination between the two players. Success is rewarded with points for each cleared row and substantial bonuses for completing screens. The game’s simple controls belie a surprisingly engaging puzzle experience that demands both quick reflexes and thoughtful strategy. Originally released in Japan as Joy Joy Kid, this Neo-Geo MVS title later appeared internationally under the name Puzzled. Each player has access to two buttons, one for rotating blocks and another for using the L-Ball ability, creating a cooperative dynamic essential for overcoming the game's challenges.
