Gameplay

Step into a quirky world with J. J. Squawkers, a cooperative platform and shooter released in 1993 by Athena/Able. Players control two duck heroes, Ani Karasukun and Ototo Karasukun, as they journey through five distinct stages to rescue kidnapped villagers and break a mysterious spell plaguing their peaceful home of Pistachio. The game blends fast-paced action with inventive weapon variety; starting with humble tomatoes, players can acquire unusual projectiles like pumpkins, watermelon seeds, screws, and even slinkys sporting sneakers. Gameplay revolves around navigating scrolling environments while battling abstract enemies that populate each stage. Each unique weapon offers different tactical advantages – some excel at long range, others provide a spread shot for close-quarters combat. As you progress, defeating certain foes unlocks these new weapons and power-ups to aid in your quest. At the end of each level, players face off against a powerful guardian, testing their skills and mastery of the available arsenal. J. J. Squawkers offers a unique, lighthearted experience best enjoyed with a friend through simultaneous two-player action.
