Lovely Pop Mahjong JangJang Shimasho (Japan)

Visco’s Lovely Pop Mahjong JangJang Shimasho, released in Japan in 1996, presents a unique twist on the traditional tabletop game of mahjong. Two players compete against one another in matches, facing off against members of the all-female pop group VisKiss. After defeating an opponent, players are rewarded with a mini-game opportunity to earn additional points, which can then be spent at an item shop for advantages in subsequent rounds. The gameplay combines strategic mahjong mechanics with animated sequences triggered by victories. These animations feature the members of VisKiss and contribute to the game's distinctive visual style. The cabinet’s design and presentation are intended to appeal to fans of Japanese pop music and culture. Lovely Pop Mahjong JangJang Shimasho is part of a series that also includes Koi Koi Shimasho - Super Real Hanafuda and subsequent installments, establishing a lineage within Visco's arcade offerings. The game’s title playfully translates to "Let's Play Lovely Pop Mahjong Jong Jong," reflecting its lighthearted and energetic tone.
