Gameplay

Invasion: The Abductors puts two players in charge of defending Earth from an extraterrestrial force returning to harvest humanity after a millennia-long experiment. Ancient visitors once bestowed humans with advanced learning capabilities, and now they’ve arrived to claim their “crop.” Players must complete four distinct missions across the globe, battling alien invaders who are abducting people, distorting landmarks, and generally wreaking havoc. Gameplay involves using an eight-way joystick and six buttons to target and eliminate waves of enemies from within massive invading spacecraft. The game utilizes Midway’s Zeus hardware platform, delivering detailed visuals and dynamic audio as players work together to thwart the alien conquest. Success depends on strategic teamwork and precise aiming to protect Earth's cities and preserve the human race. Developed by Play Mechanix and released in December 1999, Invasion: The Abductors offers a cooperative shooter experience with a unique science fiction premise rooted in humanity’s past relationship with otherworldly beings.
