Intrepid (set 1)

Step into the role of a daring secret agent in Intrepid, a frantic maze game for two players released in 1983 by Nova Games Ltd. Your mission is to infiltrate an embassy, recover vital plans, and escape – all while evading watchful guards. Navigate through interconnected rooms using a four-way joystick, collecting eight essential items along the way: from a key to unlock doors to running shoes for increased speed, each item grants points and aids in your covert operation. Careful planning is crucial; guards patrol the embassy’s interior, and detection results in lost lives. Successfully retrieving the plans triggers a celebratory rendition of "O Canada," but be wary – a hasty escape via the roof requires an umbrella to avoid a fatal fall. As you progress through increasingly challenging missions, mastering movement patterns and guard behavior is key to achieving a high score. The game's unique charm extends beyond its gameplay; observant players may notice the guards’ distinctive red uniforms and hear familiar melodies – Darth Vader’s theme when losing a life, and "La Donna E Mobile" during a daring rooftop parachute escape. Intrepid offers a thrilling cooperative experience blending stealth, strategy, and classic arcade action.
