Video Hustler
Konami • 1981

Konami’s Video Hustler, released in 1981, delivers a straightforward two-player pool simulation experience. Players use an eight-way joystick to aim and shoot billiard balls across the table, attempting to pocket them while strategically managing ball placement. The game utilizes separate processors for gameplay and sound, utilizing a Zilog Z80 CPU alongside a General Instrument AY8910 chip to produce its audio. This arcade title was licensed to Dynamo for distribution under the name Lil' Hustler. While authentic copies are relatively rare, unauthorized reproductions of Video Hustler exist, known as "The Billiards" and "Video Pool." Versions of this game were later ported to MSX computers in both Japan and Europe. Gameplay involves precise aiming and strategic shot selection to outmaneuver your opponent, providing a simple yet engaging challenge for two players simultaneously.
