Hatch Catch
SemiCom • 1995

Hatch Catch is a two-player puzzle game released in 1995 by SemiCom. Players use eight-way joysticks to aim and shoot colored blocks that appear at the top of the screen. The objective is to connect three or more blocks of the same color, causing them to disappear and clear the playing field. Successfully eliminating all the blocks on a stage advances players to the next challenge. The game utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor for its main functions and incorporates Yamaha YM2151 and OKI6295 sound chips alongside a Zilog Z80 processor, creating an auditory experience complementing the block-matching gameplay. Hatch Catch initially debuted in Korea during June of 1995. Developed by Semicom, this cooperative puzzle game offers a simple premise with escalating difficulty as players work together to strategically eliminate blocks and progress through successive stages.
