Taisen Hot Gimmick 3 Digital Surfing (Japan)
Psikyo • 1999

Taisen Hot Gimmick 3 Digital Surfing is a tabletop game released in 1999 by Psikyo, featuring a unique blend of mahjong gameplay and animated sequences. The central “Digital Surfing” mode tasks players with competing against ten opponents, each offering a chance for a reward upon defeat – choosing from two distinct animated scenes after depleting their funds or winning three rounds. Players can also acquire items between matches to gain an advantage over subsequent rivals; however, the game ends when a player exhausts all of their betting money. Beyond the core mahjong challenge, Taisen Hot Gimmick 3 introduces two additional modes: "Mahjong Fighters," a single-player story mode, and “Jan-Prince vs. Jan-Shogun,” designed for competitive play between two players. The game utilizes a SH-2 processor for its gameplay and a YMF278B sound chip to create its audio experience. This installment in the Hot Gimmick series builds on previous entries with expanded content and modes, and has since seen ports to both PlayStation 2 consoles and PC platforms.
