Gameplay

In Hot Chase, released by Konami in 1988, players take on the role of a driver tasked with transporting a stolen vehicle across the country. The unique twist? A bomb is affixed to the underside of the car, and you must reach the border before time runs out. Navigate treacherous roads while evading enemy patrols, roadblocks, aircraft, and helicopters in this tense driving game. Controlling your vehicle with either a paddle or dial—selectable via a dipswitch—you'll face increasingly challenging levels filled with obstacles. The gameplay is fast-paced as you race against the clock and attempt to outmaneuver pursuing forces. While ambitious in its design, the hardware struggled under the weight of the on-screen action, occasionally resulting in noticeable slowdowns. The game’s soundtrack, composed by Kingorou, was released separately on a limited-edition album shortly after Hot Chase's release and contributes to the sense of urgency throughout the experience. A single player can enjoy this intense chase against time.
