Gameplay

Step into Neverland and defend childhood fun in Hook, a fast-paced fighting game from Irem released in 1992. Players take control of four Lost Boys – Rufio, Ace, Pockets, and ThudButt – battling against Captain Hook and his henchmen to protect their island paradise. The gameplay unfolds across vibrant stages with a unique 2.5D perspective, allowing for movement and attacks along multiple planes as you confront increasingly challenging foes. The game’s cooperative multiplayer supports up to four players simultaneously, enabling chaotic teamwork or spirited competition against friends. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, each Lost Boy utilizes distinct fighting styles to overcome enemies and bosses. In the World version of the game, these encounters include clones of Captain Hook that must be defeated. Hook features a colorful palette across its detailed graphics and employs Yamaha YM2151 and GA20 sound chips to create an immersive experience for players. Originally released in December 1992 on Irem’s M-92 hardware, this action title provides a playful interpretation of the classic Peter Pan story.
