Holosseum is a two-player fighting game released by Sega in 1992, built upon the System 32 hardware. Players select from four distinct martial artist characters and engage in head-to-head combat using an eight-way joystick and two buttons. The game's unique presentation leveraged Sega’s innovative holographic theater cabinet, designed to create the illusion of a three-dimensional image floating within the arcade machine. This unusual cabinet design was intended to justify its expense by demonstrating its potential for visually striking games. Holosseum utilized a concave mirror inside the cabinet and a specially framed monitor to achieve this effect, resulting in an immersive experience unlike most other arcade titles of the era. Originally conceived as a conversion kit for Time Traveler due to issues with that game's laser disc technology, Holosseum offered a fresh fighting experience within Sega’s advanced hardware platform.
