Hippodrome is a two-player versus fighting game released in North America by Data East USA in 1989. Originally developed in Japan, players select one of several combatants and engage in close-quarters battles against their opponent. The gameplay centers around executing punches, kicks, and special moves to deplete the other player’s health bar while avoiding attacks. The game provides a straightforward competitive experience with no cooperative play or single-player modes. Players control their chosen character using a standard joystick and buttons on the arcade cabinet controls. A version of Hippodrome was later ported to the NEC TurboGrafx-16 console in 1993.
