Taisen Hot Gimmick Kairakuten (Japan)

Taisen Hot Gimmick Kairakuten is a tabletop mahjong game released in 1998 by Psikyo and designed for two players. The gameplay revolves around traditional mahjong mechanics, but with a distinctive visual style and twelve distinct female opponents to challenge. Players compete across rounds; depleting an opponent's funds or winning three consecutive matches against them results in the option to trigger a unique "punishment" animation sequence. To aid in their pursuit of victory, players can purchase special items after each defeat or continue, providing strategic advantages against subsequent rivals. The game concludes when one player runs out of betting funds. Character designs were a collaborative effort from artists associated with the adult magazine “COMIC Heavenly Pleasure." A quirky element comes from the inclusion of a dog companion who is voiced by Akiko Yajima—known for her role in the popular anime "Crayon Shin-Chan"—adding an unexpected touch to this unusual arcade title.
