Gameplay

Take on the challenge in Hard Head, a vibrant platformer from SunA released in 1988. Players control the character Hard Head as he navigates through sixteen distinct levels, utilizing an unusual mechanic to overcome obstacles. Enemies, ranging from quirky monsters to bewildered ducks, can be captured within bubbles fired from Hard Head’s bubble gun; once trapped, players can then jump atop their heads to defeat them. The game's objective in each stage involves locating a soccer ball and kicking it into a goal to proceed. Bricks scattered throughout the levels can be broken with Hard Head’s head, occasionally revealing helpful power-ups. A cooperative two-player mode allows for simultaneous play, enabling a second player to control another Hard Head character alongside their partner. Adding an unexpected touch, Hard Head features a soundtrack composed of selections from classical music pieces including Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, creating a unique auditory experience while players journey through the scrolling stages. A sequel, Hard Head 2, would later expand on the original game’s concepts with altered gameplay.
