Nichibutsu's Mahjong Hana no Momoko gumi is a two-player mahjong game released in Japan in December 1988. This tabletop arcade title presents players with a selection of female characters to choose from before engaging in traditional mahjong gameplay, utilizing a specialized keyboard for tile manipulation and arrangement. The game’s title translates to "Mahjong Assassins Side Story - Momoko's Flower Branch," hinting at its place within a larger series that began with Mahjong Shikaku. The visual presentation features a resolution of 512x224 pixels, utilizing a palette of 256 colors and running at 60Hz. A Zilog Z80 processor handles the main game logic while an YM3812 sound chip provides audio accompaniment. Players take turns matching tiles according to mahjong rules, aiming to create winning hands and outmaneuver their opponent. Mahjong Hana no Momoko gumi was later ported to MSX2 computers in 1991.
